Blended Almond Liqueur

With Christmas Eve just two nights away, Ma Lefay had sold out of her famous satsuma moonshine, and her satsuma trees were picked bare. Desperate, she eyed the leftover almonds meant for her special Christmas cake. A little while later, a triumphant “CHRISTMAS!” erupted from the kitchen at her humble homestead along Bayou Chené in St Martin Parish, Louisiana.

Ma handed her husband Joe a tumbler of her new creation — a rich, amber drink with hints of marzipan, caramel and nuttiness.

“Ma,” Joe exclaimed, “This is fit for royalty!”

And so, “Royal Amber” was born — a tribute to Ma Lefay’s ingenuity, keeping her spirit alive with every sip.
